Hello...

It´s been raining these days for the past four days in Zagreb, Croatia. Despite that, we were going around into the small cities in the northwestern Zagreb, such as Samobor and Varaždin. We were trying to captured some pictures to share, despite the lack of light.

These are some pictures of cafes and the cities:

Samobor:

Samobor is a city in Zagreb county, Croatia, population 36,206 (2001). Located in the west of Zagreb, between the eastern slopes of Samoborsko gorje (Samobor hills, the eastern part of the Žumberak Mountains), in the Sava river valley. It is part of the Zagreb metropolitan area.

Samobor has been there since 1242, according to a document of endowment by King Bela IV. It is one of the earliest tourist resorts in the region, with the first tourist facilities dating back to 1810, oriented towards anglers, hunters and hikers. (source)

Livadic Kavana & Hotel is one of the oldest building, right beside the main square of the city.

Varaždin

Varaždin is an old city of Baroque architecture, located in northwestern Croatia, 81 km north of Zagreb. It is one of the wealthiest county in Croatia and has the lowest unemployment.

On the way, we passed an old cafe called ˝Kavana Herzer˝ located right in front of a church. Between the cafe and the church there is a statue of Bishop Grgur NInski (originally from Split, Dalmatia. Southern Croatia)

At the picture above, you can see the the toe of the bishop is shiny. That is because, some people believe, if you touch or rubbing the toe while you whising something, it would bring you some luck or your wishes would come true.

Minutes later, Iggy had his wishes come true when we found a very cute little cafe, just for us to hang out before we continue our small trip to one of an old castle on the way back to Zagreb.

My friends, that was our little trips to share with you. It was a lovely trip at the end of this year. We do hope you enjoy this small cafe-trip journal:)

May fun be with you

PatanYali di kota terkecil dunia: Hum! (Photo, Glassnet Collection)
